About
Study Trail Bible is a free Bible study tool in development, and this site is its home. It is built for individuals and small groups who want to study Scripture deeply and grow together.
Purpose
Help people know God through His word, and grow together in it.
Mission
Give individuals and small groups a place to study Scripture deeply, reflect honestly, and encourage one another.
Vision
A trusted community where believers read, study and pray together. Groups and churches write and share their own studies. Each person keeps a lasting record of how they have grown, to look back on and to share with the people they love.
What we hold to
- Scripture comes first. The text and its connections come before any commentary. Commentary helps people see the text. It does not replace it.
- Depth over speed. Cross-references, background, original words and notes are one tap away. We help people study, not skim.
- Growth is not a scoreboard. No rankings, no shaming, no public counts. Progress is private and quiet, and a missed day is forgiven.
- Together, led from within. Small groups are the center. Leaders come from the group and take turns, and every voice is heard.
- Honest about sources and AI. Open sources are credited. AI may help draft, but a person reviews, edits and owns anything shared. Nothing goes to a group without that review.
- Free to use and safe to trust. The core stays free. Your notes belong to you, you can export them, and nothing is shared unless you choose.
- Respect those who made the work. We follow licenses, give credit, and keep other people’s books and commentaries in their own hands.
The translation I read
On this blog I read and quote the NIV (New International Version). When I quote a verse, I name the translation, and every post links the passage so you can read it in yours. The Study Trail Bible app currently uses public-domain translations.
Where things stand
Study Trail Bible is early. It is invite-only for now, starting with one small group, and it uses public-domain Bible text and sources. If your group would like to try it, ask for an invite.
